Prof Monro wins PM’s emerging leaders award

Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, today named Professor Tanya Monro as one of 10 emerging young Australian leaders.

Mr Rudd spoke of the importance of leadership and presented awards to eight of the 10 winners, selected from 100 outstanding young Australians as part of The Weekend Australian Magazine’s Next 100: Emerging Leaders project .

IPAS gets funding boost

June 2, 2009

The Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS), a new research venture to be established with the CoEP at its core, is set to receive an extra $5 million worth of funding from the State government [full story] – in addition to the $28.8  million awarded by the Commonwealth last year.

This is part of a funding iniative for South Australian University research facilities committed to the “commercialisation of research and to increasing expenditure on research and development facilities”.
